21 Day Challenge - Day 5

Holy cow. I'm pretty sure Tyson is trying to kill me. The eating part of the challenge is getting easier, but the fact that I am constantly sore from cardio and lifting makes it a little more difficult.

A few years ago, I did a similar challenge. It was a 14 day cleanse to help set my body back to where it was supposed to be. In that process, I learned a lot about what foods I can snack on that are part of my challenge and what I couldn't. One of the best snacking items I have found is the Nature's Harvest Plantains - Sea Salt! These seriously taste like chips, but don't have the added preservatives! I like to eat them with some guacamole! You can find them at Walmart.

Yesterday's cardio was on the spin-bike. Tyson and I have been working on our backyard and sometimes just can't make it to the gym. So, while he was out digging in the dirt, I rode the bike. Intervals are by far the BEST way to get a great cardio workout in without spending a lot of time. Tyson used to ride the bike for at least an hour, or run for an hour and ever since he changed to 20 minute intervals, his body has become leaner, and he is healthier over all.

So back to my workout…

I rode the bike for 15 minutes, warm up for 2 minutes, then 1 minute increments of highest resistance, and lowest resistance. For only going for 15 minutes, it definitely kicked my behind! My legs are extremely sore and I'm pretty sure I couldn't breathe for 30 minutes afterwards.

Today was lifting. After a long day in the yard and watching my two nephews, Tyson and I headed to the gym. Chest, Triceps and abs. I hate Chest. So we did that first. Our chest workout consisted of bench presses, dumbbell press, and pushups.

For triceps we used skull crushers - I think that's right. Anywho, we also did tricep pull downs.

Skull crushers - can you see where they get their name?

Then, on to abs. I did abs on my own, but I LOVE to continue the ab workout I did when I was a sophomore in high school as a Tigerette. It definitely helped to sculpt my abs so why change something that isn't broken?
